Cole’s Dirt Obsession

Friday, May 29th, 2009 by Mom

During our weekly playdate dinners Cole is loving the new environments and the company of other kids.

At Matheus and Gabriel’s house Cole spent a lot of time on the lawn digging in the dirt.  I would pick him up and put him by the slide and next thing I know he’s back there again.  Eating it of course.

Luckily Gabriel is there to play ball, Cole’s other favorite thing to do other than eat dirt.

At Ava’s house Cole managed to find another dirt spot.  Even better, this one was filled with ants.  But that didn’t stop him from going back to his spot to play and eat the dirt.

“Dude, there’s so many dirt spots I gotta show ya.  Just watch and learn from the master.”

Perhaps with his obsession with dirt, Cole will develop a green thumb and teach Mommy the proper ways of gardening.

Memorial Weekend

Thursday, May 28th, 2009 by Mom

This past Memorial Weekend was filled with bike trips to the beach, gardening and lots of eating out.  Daddy was off Friday and Monday and we stayed in town so we had the entire weekend to do some fun family activities.

Gardening has never been my favorite thing to do but my front porch was in dire need of freshening up.  Cole and Grace were so kind to help Mommy plant new flowers.  Cole really seemed to enjoy digging in the dirt.

We also got to take a ride to the beach using our bike trailer.  The kids sit so snugly inside.  The love the wind blowing in their faces as Mommy huffs and puffs down the street.  After we grabbed a quick bite we headed down to the beach so Grace could fly her new kite.  Cole was busy exploring the wonderful world of sand.  Surprisingly, not that much sand ended up in his mouth.

After a long afternoon of biking, eating, and playing at the beach both kids were pretty tuckered out.

When we weren’t outside, we were hanging out at home.  Cole is learning how to play the piano thanks to Daddy.

Cole also spent a lot of time under tables.

And chairs.  When will he learn that he’s growing and he can’t fit under there anymore?

Right now his favorite toy is the ball.  Any ball will do.  Even see thru ones.  See ya wouldn’t want to be ya.

Helmet-Free!!

Friday, May 22nd, 2009 by Mom

As I’m sure you are aware by now Cole is officially helmet-free.  After 4 long months of wearing that thing for 23 hours a day, we are all delighted to say sayonara to the helmet.  At his last doctor’s visit I received a scan with a before and after of Cole’s head growth.

From the scan of his head you can see the growth and change over the last four months.  The red circle is his head in December and the blue circle is his head now.  The helmet definitely helped shaped his head to be rounder in the back.

Here is the photos taken by the nurse.  Before is on the left and after on the right.  I love the do rag he had to wear.

Cole has adjusted quite well to not wearing the helmet.  I can’t say I’ll miss the helmet but he was definitely a cutie pie in it.  But he’s cuter without.

10 Months

Thursday, May 21st, 2009 by Mom

On the 19th Cole turned 10 months.  What a big boy he’s getting.  He is soooo close to walking but unlike his big sister, Cole is super patient and a little timid so he’s quite content at scooting and cruising everywhere.

He manages to get around the house without anyone’s help.  But once in a while when there is a diaper box handy, Grace will offer her assistance and push Cole where ever he needs to go.

Grace would never want to miss out on fun so she likes to join bubba too.

But like a true big sister, Grace gets tired of sharing and kicks Cole out to take a nice sweet snooze.

Cole doesn’t mind.  He enjoys scaling the hallway drawers anyways.

He’s going to be a great rock climber.

Our weekly dinner nights and play dates are in full effect.  We’ve added a new family to our bunch.  Justin and Isabella and their two sons, Matheus and Gabriel are now joining the fun.  This time it was at our house.  Here they are mixing the playdoh colors.  Luckily for them, my OCD tendencies have eased up a bit now that I have two kids.

Cole and Gabriel got along pretty well.  They just stared at eachother most of the time and giggled every now and then.

For Mother’s Day we went to Uncle Tim and Aunt Sue’s house.  They have a pool which Grace and Emily oh so enjoyed.  Cole really wanted to swim but it was a bit too cold for him.  Instead he just watched with envy as the girls splashed away.

Open. Open. Open.

Gotta run.  Time for Cole’s close-up.

Mischievous Little Bugger

Friday, May 15th, 2009 by Mom

Cole is 9 months and boy is he curious.  He gets around the house by doing his half crawl half scoot technique.  Everything and anything goes into his mouth.  So far his favorite is paper and card board but plastic and metal will do too.  There was one day in particular that he went on a rampage and I think I said, “Cole, no!” at least 50 times.

First, he discovered a lemon on the counter and swiped it without me realizing until I discovered that he had a big yellow mouth.

Even though it appeared that he didn’t like the lemon taste, he couldn’t put it down.

Then, I caught Cole in the act of dumping Molly’s water bowl on the ground.  He loves to do this multiple times a day.  Will I ever learn?

Cole must have been thirsty too.

What are you into now Cole?  Not the wipes!

I let him pull out all the wipes since it gave him so much pleasure.

All done.

Whew!  Being a little stinker is exhausting.  Time for a nap.

Dirt Party

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 by Mom

As you know from Grace’s blog, we went camping at lake Piru and Cole got his first experience exploring with all the dirt.  It’s super hard camping with a 9 month old who doesn’t walk yet because all he did was drag his tush all around the camp ground.  Oh well, that’s what baths are for right?

Cole sure loved playing with all that dirt.

More lakeside dirt.  Everything, I mean everything, went into his mouth that weekend.

He loved camping but he wasn’t so sure about waking up in a weird red tinted tent.

Back at home we even got to play in the pool with Grace.  All clean.
